Please maintain a POSITIVE BALANCE in your child’s food service account.  WE ACT ON A DEBIT SYSTEM and your child’s account will be deducted for each meal, or drink ordered. 

 

You are very welcome to come eat a meal with your student.  Please make sure to call us in the morning so we can add you to our lunch count. 223-5656 ext. 143.  Thank you!

 

For those of you new to Doty, we’d like to let you know more about our offerings at breakfast and lunch.

 

At breakfast, foods that are available every day include whole wheat toast or bagel with butter or cream cheese, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, orange juice, and milk.  Homemade granola is also usually available, and eggs are offered 3-4 times per week.  Occasionally we’ll serve homemade muffins, stove cooked or baked oatmeal, smoothies, or parfaits.

 

At lunch, in addition to the meal indicated on the menu, we offer an alternative to the main course which is a sunbutter and jelly sandwich or a cheese sandwich served on VT Bread Company whole grain bread. 

 

According to USDA requirements, all students purchasing a meal must choose their meal as follows in order to check out:

 

For breakfast:  Three different items must be chosen and one of the items must be fruit or juice.

 

For lunch:  Three items out of the following five components must be chosen, and one of them must be a fruit or vegetable.   The five components are:  Milk, Fruit, Vegetable, Grain, Protein (meat or meat alternate).  We try to offer at least two different vegetables every day (one of those options may be a side soup)

 

 

About the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP):

 

Thanks to Karen Dyer’s efforts, we have again received the FFVP grant which allows us to serve a free fresh fruit or vegetable snack to all of Doty’s students.  The snack will be served every day mid-morning and we’re looking forward to incorporating locally grown produce, especially during the next few months.  Please keep in mind that your student(s) may need or want an additional snack from home.

 

FFVP is run by kitchen staff and much appreciated community and student volunteers.  We are still looking for a Wednesday morning volunteer (the work takes approximately 1 hour).   If you are interested, please contact Katie or Neha at 223-5656 (ext. 143).  Thank you!
